As well as providing comprehensive eye examinations in our branches, we can also provide home visits for anyone who are unable to attend the practice due to health or mobility issues.
We hold a satellite clinic at the Shap Medical Practice, Shap once every fortnight and we also provide an audiology service in partnership with Vicky Kirkwood of Lakeland Hearing.
Low Vision Aids (Magnifiers and Lighting)
In some cases, patients might find that their vision requires more than just a pair of spectacles to give them the best vision they can achieve. In these cases ‘low vision aids’ such as specialised magnifiers and lighting are often a good solution to what can otherwise be a very debilitating situation.
We stock a wide range of magnifiers and specialised devices . We also have direct access to suppliers who are happy for patients to have free trials of some of the more specialist electronic aids in their own homes.
Loss of vision can be a very traumatic and upsetting condition, so we always ensure we have time to listen to our patients’ specific needs and concerns, and discuss all the possible options while carefully managing their expectations.

Dyslexia and Visual Stress assessments
This is an area of growing concern for both adults and children in today’s society. We are able to provide a detailed overlay assessment to help identify whether or not a coloured overlay is required to assist with the reduction of ‘Visual Stress’ caused by conditions such as Dyslexia.
DVLA
DVLA driving reports and assessment forms are something that are necessary for particular drivers – such as HGV, PSV and taxi drivers, as well as people with particular medical conditions that require frequent eye examinations. Our qualified Optometrists are able to complete and sign these important documents.
